We are committed to meeting our Mission of Helping to Enable the Restoration of the Gifts of Sight & Health by continuing to provide safe, quality, and healthy tissues to our healthcare professionals.
As a result of the quickly-evolving global outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 and the disease it causes, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), we have taken the additional steps to ensure we continue to meet our Mission.
First, we have been tracking the outbreak since late January and have prepared our systems and our staff for continuity of service. The safety of the donor tissue, the safety of our partners in healthcare, and the safety of our employees is our highest priority.
As always, our team follows the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) standard safety precautions to ensure personal safety and the safety of tissues we recover, process, and distribute. Our procedures are aligned with CDC and OSHA recommendations. Donors are are being screened for diagnosed or possible COVID-19 in accordance with FDA regulations, and Standards from the Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA) and the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB).
In addition, we have taken additional preventive actions that include closing our offices to the public, having our staff work remotely when possible, and extending our sick leave policy to cover all staff – ensuring our teams that are directly involved with providing safe, high-quality tissue to you and your patients are covered in case of illness.
We anticipate no disruption to our services. We will continue to assess and monitor the COVID-19 situation and act accordingly.
Please feel free to contact us with any other questions or concerns that you may have.
